What happened
Bitget Wallet, a self-custodial wallet, now issues personal USD and EUR account numbers supplied by payments firm Noah. Incoming transfers over ACH, Fedwire, SEPA and SWIFT convert on arrival into USDT or USDC; outbound transfers are planned for the coming months. Opening an account is free with no local residency requirement, and a $500 ACH transfer runs about $2 in Bitget fees (banks and chains may charge separately). The company claims 100M+ users and a $300M user protection fund.
Why it matters for us
- Which stream: Stream 1 (DeFi / cash management) and Stream 9 (zero-storage / subscriptions and cash rails). A self-custodial wallet that turns bank deposits into stablecoins without an exchange is a direct competitor to our own cash-management and on-ramp positioning, and a reminder that fiat-to-stablecoin conversion is becoming a commodity feature.
- Which decision: No build change. Our routes are x402 paid API reads, not on-ramp wallets, so this does not open a revenue route for us. Track as market context only; revisit if stablecoin on-ramp fees compress further.
What to do next
Rec 1: No action; note the $2-per-$500 fee band as a reference point for any future on-ramp pricing and keep focus on bazaar-cdp-settlement-001.
